We left Bend Oregon today and headed to the Columbia River Gorge. Our scenic drive took us past many snow capped mountains, the largest being Mount Hood. We found a great campsite at Ainsworth state park, our home for the next five days. After setting up the trailer we decided to explore the trail from the campground to Horsetail and Ponytail falls. The trail wound along the hill featuring many trees which were burnt in the fire several years ago, and lava rock falls. The waterfalls were quite spectacular - Ponytail falls allowed us to go behind the falls…..if it was warmer we could have swam here.
