We left early for our visit to the Hoh rainforest. We did the hall of mosses and the spruce nature trails.  This old growth rain forest offered huge trees that could be up to 1000 years old. Diameters possibly up to 14 feet and heights of 200 feet or more. I love the moss that was growing on the trees and the hanging moss that was coming down from the branches. Ferns and other vegetation populated the ground cover.  We saw a couple of banana slugs around 4 to 5 inches long. They can grow up to a foot and they eat poop.

We headed down the coast to Ruby beach and Kalaloch beach. Ruby beach had large stones which you had to walk over and tons of driftwood. Along with some seastacks. Kalaloch beach was kind of neat because you had to use a rope to aid yourself in getting down to the beach. Smaller stones here and a tide pool area. We were a bit early for low tide so only managed to see one starfish but tons of anemones, a seal and an eagle.   A first in all the years that we have been hiking in the national parks…  we saw a man carrying a large handgun tucked down the back of his shorts.
