We had to go through the coastal mountains to get to the coast. This is a scenic drive….meaning lots of ups and downs and windy roads…..more difficult with a trailer. Our route started with a climb up and then there was snow all around us on the mountains including on our windshield. Once we got through that pass the drive was gorgeous with a river running beside us, mountains around us and everything was so green. But when we got to the coast I knew why they called the town Eureka.

We drove along the coast through the Redwoods State Park. Gorgeous!! The trees were huge. Lots of opportunity to hike but our drive to the coast took 3 hours longer than expected and we were anxious to get settled. We checked in to Harris Beach State park. A nicely laid out campground with lots of privacy right on the ocean. We headed down to see the water after dinner.
