We wanted to explore the Samuel H Boardman Corredor. First we drove to the Whaleshead beach viewpoint for a hike towards Indian head. The day was a bit brisk and rainy. After a short uphill hike on a very narrow trail we made it to the upper parking lot, then headed into the main part of the trail. After walking almost 3 km, with a few misadventures looking to find a short cut, we eventually found a path that led us back to the road. It turns out that the walk back to the upper parking lot was only about 200 m down the road.

Next we ventured from the Thunder Rock Cove parking area down to Secret Beach. This was a great hike because down at the beach there were almost no people. There was a stream we had to cross by navigating over some rocks below the waterfall, and another area further down the beach where we had to navigate over some seaweed. An unfortunate event happened just as we were about to climb back out from the beach. Karen found a great photo that she wanted to take, planted her sticks in the beach sand, and was promptly shocked by a rogue wave coming in behind her. Although it was only a couple of inches of water it knocked her hiking sticks over, one of them fell into the downhill stream, and we watched for about 20 minutes as it bobbed in the ocean inching ever so slowly out to sea, never to return
