We heard about this town which was reminiscent of Bavarian Alps town and we decided to visit. The drive to Leavenworth was spectacular with many rivers running along beside us and huge craggily and some snow topped mountains. Leavenworth itself is right in the valley with the mountains surrounding it. Many of the buildings are in the Bavarian style. We wandered the streets and the many shops and have the typical German dinner of schnitzel, spezalte and red cabbage.

There are many hikes in this area and we decided on a relatively easy hike called icicle gorge. This hike allowed us to loop around the rushing waters of Icicle Creek.
