we headed north to Lake Pleasant RV Park. This will be our home for two nights before we had back home. We quickly checked in, set up, and headed to downtown Seattle.

The pikes place market is huge. Over 50 vendors plus all the streets surrounding the market are restaurants and stores. We purchased pastries, cherries and snow peas.

We started walking up to the space needle and decided that we should rent some scooters to make the journey easier. What a hoot!! We quickly grasped handling the scooter and were soon at full speed except when we had trouble getting up the huge hill out of the market. Karen was able to make it up the hill very slowly on her scooter, at which point she turned around and started laughing at Kevin who had to push his scooter with the motor running and chase it up the hill.

The needle was built in 1962 and it took 370 days to complete. It was built for the worlds fair. We saw great views of Seattle including the port. One floor below was the glass bottom section which seemed to bother a number of people but gave us a great view of the art sculptures surrounding the needle.
