We headed up the coast. Our first stop was at the Dean Creek elk viewing area.  We saw a herd of the Roosevelt elk in a distance, feeding and resting.

Further up the coast we decided to spend a couple of nights at Carl G Washburn State Park.  We are actually camping in a rain forest - all around us the trees are heavily laden with moss.

We stopped at the overlook before sea lion caves. This is basically a tourist trap where they take you down an elevator to sea level . We got an excellent look from our viewpoint AND we saw a gray whale about 50 meters from shore.

Sweet Creek Falls was there a hike for the afternoon. It was definitely an event to get to the trailhead as you had to overshoot the start because you were on the opposite side of the river and you need to go well out of your way till you found a bridge.  It boasted 11 waterfalls in 3 miles and it did not disappoint. We have walked along a raging creek the entire distance with many waterfalls to be seen.  Another old growth rainforest kept us marvelling at the huge mosque covered trees.

I was very disappointed when it started to drizzle around 6 PM. I had my heart set on heading to the beach for the lunar eclipse. We did head to the beach but unfortunately it was totally clouded over.
